Comics

I enjoyed looking at all the different options for creating comic characters and comic strips. They range from the most basic to extremely detailed and could easily be adapted to any grade or subject.

Week 3 Thing 5

I LOVE the illustrations and learning links in this book about metaphors! I firmly believe pictures help students make connections that help them retrieve data. Sometimes we repeat sayings so often we loose the context of what that might look like in a child's mind and this book brings those vivid details back to our attention. My two favorites were "His eyes were bigger than his stomach" with huge eyes on a tiny body with little stomach and "Our teacher assigned an avalanche of homework" illustrated by a tiny hand sticking out from a pile of white notebook paper.

This is a great solution to our families constant struggle to maintain resources about School, Scouts, and Sports - which is what our lives revolve around 24/7. Now each of the kids can access information from Seabreeze or Spruce Creek, while the parents can locate updated schedules, etc. from work without having to memorize web sites and addresses.
Away from home I think this is going to be great tool in helping me collaborate with the PLC members and other teachers.

Week 2 Thing 4

This is an interesting concept that I'm looking forward to using in the Fall. As a math teacher, I sometimes struggle to find ways to implement the latest technology, but I can see how this would be a great tool for getting feedback about class rules and procedures. It could also help prepare for Open House by filtering ideas for displays of Thinking Maps.
Week 2 Thing 3
Uggghhhh! This is much harder than I thought! So much for thinking I was pretty tech savvy.
This is the small version of my Avatar. I had to save as a picture and then browse for it because no matter what I did the URL would not work to load it. The bigger one is a little cuter with books and a chalk board!
